Still Here

No, I haven’t dropped off the face of the earth. The semester is drawing to a close, and my life is crazy crazier than usual.
I’ll be back posting shortly. I’ll also have something new – a little surprise. It’ll be fun. I promise.
Until then, take care. Best wishes to you and yours this Thanksgiving.
Your regularly-scheduled [...]

No way!

<sarcasm>
I know it’s hard to believe, but it seems that the radical sheetheads (sheetheads? shitheads? get it? haha! OK, fine….) running the Islamic Republic of Iran are being, shall we say, less than entirely honest in regard to their production of nukes. I know it’s hard to believe. If you can’t trust a bunch of [...]

For the Record

I will not condemn the U.S. Marine who shot a supposedly wounded insurgent in Fallujah. In fact, he has my deepest respect.
From the Independent:

The footage showed several Marines with a group of prisoners who were either lying on the floor or propped against a wall of the bombed-out building. One Marine can be heard declaring [...]

Carter Speaks Up

Most of you know that I’m not too fond of Jimmy Carter. What’s amazing to me is that every time he opens his mouth, I like him less. Take, for example, his latest remarks in the New York Times regarding Yassir Arafat:

Not Buying It

Allow me to take a moment and jump on the ever-growing bandwagon of observers who aren’t buying the argument that “moral issues” won this election for Bush. A few things to think about:

– As many have pointed out, if you combine the percentages from “Terrorism” and “Iraq” (as one should, being that the two [...]

The Roots of Terrorism

Harvard professor Alberto Abadie has published a paper that shows political freedom – not poverty, as many neo-Marxists have suggested – is the best indicator of terrorism. From the abstract:

In line with the results of some recent studies, this article shows that terrorist risk is not significantly higher for poorer countries, once the effects of [...]

It’s about damn time

From ScrappleFace:

Bush Swats Kofi Annan with Rolled Newspaper
(2004-11-05) — U.S. President George Bush, during a surprise visit to United Nations headquarters today, rolled up a copy of The New York Times and swatted U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan across the nose with it.
Mr. Bush said nothing after the swatting, but simply pointed the rolled paper toward [...]

One More Thing….

I just checked out Dennis’ Ramblings…. He’s now the proud father of a baby girl. Congratulations, Dennis!!
