Ahmadinejad in NYC
Published by Sean September 25th, 2007 in General, IranMahmoud Ahmadinejad spoke at Columbia University yesterday. Groups such as the National Organization of Women and the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation staged large-scale protests, denouncing Iran’s deplorable human rights record with respect to women, gays and lesbians. Their numbers dwarfed those of anti-war marches scheduled to coincide with Ahmadinejad’s speech. In statements posted on the Internet yesterday afternoon, both organizations - as well as other, similar human rights groups - strongly denounced Iran’s implementation of Sharia (Islamic) law, its jailing of dissidents, and executions of homosexuals and women accused of adultery.
HAHA! Just kidding! I totally made that up. In fact, neither NOW nor GLAAD made any official appearance at Columbia yesterday, nor does either group make any mention of Ahmadinejad on their web sites. NOW appears to be focusing its efforts on anti-Wal-Mart campaigns (because only women work at Wal-Mart), while GLAAD has its hands full examining the number of gay and lesbian characters on American television.
I’m certainly not the only one to point this out, but I couldn’t resist.

Whatsisname spoke before a hostile audience at Columbia University and was asked a question about his regimes treatment of homosexuals.
His response — “There aren’t any.”
He’s probably right.
Not since 1979, anyway.
My favorite part of his visit was when, during a press conference following his speech at the U.N., a reporter asked him about that remark, stating that she personally knew a homosexual individual living in Iran.
Ahmadinejad responded by asking for his/her address.
One thing we can be sure of: If she gave it to him, there’s definitely one less homosexual living in Iran today.
