These signs started appearing around campus (at East Tennessee State University) shortly after the shootings at Northern Illinois University. I can only assume they were posted in response.

Nothing could more clearly illustrate the stupidity behind so-called “Gun-Free Zones.” They’re the “No Spitting” sign of the 21st Century. I want to know what idiot thinks that someone who is inclined to shoot up a classroom and then kill themselves will be deterred by the prospect of going to prison.

This policy will, however, do an excellent job of ensuring that if a scenario such as the one at NIU ever does present itself at ETSU, there will be no law-abiding citizens with registered firearms around to help out.
